Steam Trade or Market Confirmation Missing: Check the Right Stage

Separate a Steam login approval, trade confirmation, sent offer and Market listing. Check the genuine app or email before retrying an item transfer.

THE KEY POINT

Confirmations approve a trade or listing. A Steam Guard login code and an order marked pending on another website describe different stages.

01

Name the action that needs confirmation

Steam’s confirmation FAQ explains that item movements and Market listings require approval. With a mobile authenticator, the request arrives through the Steam Mobile app; otherwise Steam documents an email confirmation route. Confirm the account and action, then check that channel yourself.

Read the request before approving it. The correct response to an unexpected trade or listing is to stop and follow Steam’s security guidance, not approve it merely because a website says a transaction is waiting.

02

Inspect the Steam record as well as the notification

Open Inventory and Trade Offers to inspect the relevant offer. Keep its direction, recipient, items and current status together. A browser notification is not a substitute for the offer record. A service’s withdrawal reference is useful too, but it is a separate record.

If no matching offer exists, return to the service’s withdrawal history and establish whether it has actually sent one. If a matching request exists, compare the genuine approval screen with that offer. Avoid repeated withdrawal attempts while the original stage remains unclear.

03

If the expected channel is email

Confirmations and Steam Guard login emails should not be treated as interchangeable. For a missing Steam Guard code specifically, Valve directs users to the registered email address, spam filtering and trusted-sender settings. Use the dedicated code-help page for its stated waiting period and retry instructions.

Do not remove the authenticator to chase a missing notification. Preserve the status and use Steam Support if the official channel remains unavailable. A support report should name the requested action and account, without including a sign-in or recovery code.
