Steam Achievement Sets Enter Beta: What Changes for Completion
Steam's October 15 beta introduces Achievement Sets: groups with their own completion progress. The practical benefit is clearer separation between the content you own and additional DLC or time-limited achievements.
Announced October 15, 2026. This is a Steam Client beta feature; individual games must configure their sets. Sources reviewed October 20.

Why an extra DLC should be easier to interpret
Valve's developer announcement describes sets for DLC, characters, modes and seasons. DLC-linked sets are associated with ownership. The system therefore gives a developer a way to distinguish an expansion's achievements from the rest of a game's checklist.
Read the name and scope of the set before comparing completion with someone else's profile. A base-game set and a character-specific set answer different questions.
Archived does not mean taken away
Developers can archive achievements for content that is no longer obtainable. Valve says previously earned archived achievements remain visible to those players; missed archived achievements do not block completion. This is a management tool, not a promise that a particular game's unavailable achievement has already been corrected.
Keep achievement progress separate from inventory value
This announcement concerns achievement organization. It establishes no new skin payout, trade eligibility or cash reward. For an inventory or withdrawal problem, use the relevant guide rather than changing Steam channels to look for a financial fix.
