TF2 Festivizer: compatible weapons and Festive names

A Festivizer is a single-use weapon decoration tool. A Festivized weapon and an original Festive weapon have different item names and should be compared separately.

THE QUICK ANSWER

Valve renamed tool-decorated weapons Festivized to distinguish them from original Festive weapons. Match the actual weapon and compatible tool selection before applying anything.

01

Identify the tool or decorated weapon

Valve’s item description calls The Festivizer a one-use tool for festivizing a weapon. It is not a finished weapon even when a listing image shows lights as an example.

Read the item type and base weapon name in any offer. The Industrial Festivizer is also the name of a cosmetic, so a search result containing “Festivizer” needs the full type checked before purchase.

Keep the three identities separate

  1. Festivizer tool

    One-use weapon decoration item.

  2. Festivized weapon

Tool-decorated weapon using Valve’s distinct label.

  3. Original Festive weapon

Separate named version, not a synonym for every lit weapon.

02

Festive and Festivized are different labels

Valve’s January 4, 2018 update changed tool-decorated items to use Festivized in their names specifically to distinguish them from original Festive weapons. Do not shorten both into the same listing specification.

Compare the complete name, quality, Strange counters and Killstreak properties. Similar lights or a similar weapon silhouette do not establish that two variants are identical.

03

Use the current compatible selection

Compatibility has changed over the game’s update history. The 2018 note includes Australium support as a then-new addition. An old guide’s short list therefore cannot establish every compatible weapon today.

Use the tool’s current receiving-item selection and read the confirmation for the exact weapon. If the weapon is absent, save its full name and the tool’s displayed choices before assuming another finish or quality will work.

Check the exact receiving weapon

  1. Current list includes it?

Read the selected weapon and confirmation.

  2. Only an old guide lists it?

Compare the current tool selection; support has expanded before.

  3. Wrong item type?

Verify that a similarly named cosmetic is not the tool.

04

Check the weapon you intend to keep

Save the weapon’s existing properties before any use. A decoration is one part of its specification; the expected Strange and Killstreak attributes still need their own checks.

The current Steam description also marks the tool Not Usable in Crafting. That flag does not prevent the item from being the separately listed decoration tool; crafting ingredients and tool use are different actions.

BEFORE YOU CONTINUE

Quick checklist

  • Read whether the item is the tool or a weapon.
  • Keep Festive and Festivized names separate.
  • Check the current compatible receiving-item list.
  • Record the weapon’s other properties before use.

Public game documentation and item descriptions reviewed on 26 October 2026 (America/Toronto). Community-maintained references are labelled where used.

The readable Valve tool description verifies single use, decoration purpose and non-crafting flag; the 2018 developer note verifies the naming distinction and historical support expansion. Exact current supported-weapon lists and removal rules are intentionally not asserted. No Festivizer application, restoration, purchase or client selection was tested.
