SkinSwap Backpack: reserve a locked item, then withdraw

Find reserved SkinSwap items in Backpack, read their lock and use Withdraw when they become available.

THE QUICK ANSWER

Backpack is a site-held item location. A reservation is not Steam delivery, and the documented retrieval control is Withdraw rather than Trade.

01

Know what a Backpack entry represents

SkinSwap documents Backpack as a place for reserved items and some failed-transfer outcomes. It is a location within SkinSwap, distinct from your Steam inventory and from a site-money balance.

Record the exact item and the transaction that placed it there. An empty Steam view does not by itself show loss when the item is reserved on the platform.

Explanation: a reserved item can wait in Backpack

  1. Reserve locked skin

Read the quoted item and lock.

  2. Backpack

Site-held reserved item waits for availability.

  3. Withdraw

Start item retrieval when the restriction permits.

02

Read the locked-item reservation prompt

The Backpack guide describes selecting a locked item through the Trade flow and confirming a prompt that it will move to Backpack until its hold ends. That commits to the platform’s reservation flow rather than delivering the item immediately.

Save the quoted item, total and displayed lock before confirming any reservation. This guide does not reserve an item; it explains why a purchased or exchanged skin might appear in Backpack while waiting.

03

Use Withdraw after the lock expires

The help specifically warns against using Trade to retrieve an already reserved item and directs users to Withdraw. Open Backpack from the inventory icon, select the intended item and read its availability before starting retrieval.

Check the resulting Steam offer through the original platform record and inspect the actual item. If another offer replaces it, verify that new offer from the beginning.

  1. Open the Backpack icon in SkinSwap inventory.
  2. Match the item to the reservation or transaction.
  3. Read its lock and availability status.
  4. When available, use Withdraw and follow that request’s record.

04

Apply the specific P2P refund rule where relevant

Older general Backpack pages describe some canceled or failed trades returning skins to Backpack. The more specific current P2P trading guide says seller non-delivery returns paid value to balance and does not return the original outgoing skin.

Do not combine those statements into a promise that every failed P2P swap restores your original skin. Identify the transaction type first, then check the destination stated for that event.

05

Report the platform location and failed action

For a retrieval problem, provide the original reservation, item, Backpack state, displayed lock and any withdrawal reference. Say whether no offer appeared, an offer expired, or the item is absent from Backpack as well as Steam.

A failed retrieval and a still-active lock need different investigation. Avoid repeatedly using Trade or creating a second reservation to test what happened to the first item.

BEFORE YOU CONTINUE

Quick checklist

  • Check Backpack before assuming a reserved item is lost.
  • Read the item-specific lock.
  • Use Withdraw rather than Trade for retrieval.
  • Keep P2P balance refunds separate from item returns.
