DMarket Targets: specify float, pattern and phase

Translate the skin attributes you want into DMarket’s advanced Target parameters, and check what cannot be requested.

THE QUICK ANSWER

A finish name, float value, paint seed and phase are different conditions. Check which are actually saved before activating an automatic Target.

01

Write the requirement as separate attributes

DMarket’s advanced Target help identifies float, pattern and phase as supported parameters. Begin with the full base item, then describe any extra requirement in the matching control. A number copied into the wrong field can describe a very different item.

Keep condition words and exact values separate. Factory New is an exterior label; 0.020 is a wear value; a paint seed is an integer identifying a pattern. A phase is a finish variant, not another spelling of the wear value.

STRIKEPOT / EXPLAINED

Explanation: map the requirement to its control

  1. Wear value

    Float condition.

  2. Pattern identity

    Paint seed condition.

  3. Finish variant

    Phase condition where relevant.

  4. Applied craft

Not covered by documented sticker/gem Target requests.

02

Open Advanced parameters

Create or open the intended Target and use Advanced parameters. Enter only the attributes you actually require, using the controls and accepted format currently shown. The documentation does not establish that every numeric box uses the same boundary rule.

  1. Confirm the base item and variant first.
  2. Open Advanced parameters.
  3. Set the supported float, pattern or phase requirements.
  4. Read the saved values and purchase price together.
  5. Activate only after the resulting conditions match your written requirement.

03

Test the meaning with an invented comparison

Suppose you want a specified paint seed and do not care about the float within the chosen exterior. Adding a very narrow wear requirement can exclude a visually suitable match. Conversely, a broad float condition cannot substitute for the desired seed.

STRIKEPOT / EXPLAINED

Explanation: one intended requirement, two orders

  1. Order A

Base variant plus intended paint seed.

  2. Order B

Same seed plus an accidental narrow wear condition.

  3. Effect

Order B may exclude items Order A could match.

04

Applied stickers are not Target conditions

The creation guide says this flow cannot request CS stickers or Dota 2 gems added to an item. A photo with a sticker is not a substitute for a saved condition. If a craft is essential, use an inspectable individual listing.

For a desired weapon with a particular sticker layout, record the weapon and applied layout separately. Do not activate an attribute Target and assume it guarantees those extras just because a search result used that image.

05

Review restrictive conditions before widening them

If a Target finds no match, compare each saved condition with your requirement. Relaxing a parameter changes what the order may buy; preserve a before copy so the change is deliberate.

Keep the price, parameter values, exact name and activation state in one record. If an unexpected purchase occurs, these details are more useful than saying the item had the wrong pattern.

BEFORE YOU CONTINUE

Quick checklist

  • Separate base item, float, paint seed and phase.
  • Read the current control’s accepted values.
  • Do not assume applied stickers or gems are requested.
  • Review saved conditions before activation.
