DMarket Sales History: compare transactions, not only asks

THE QUICK ANSWER

A historical sale is evidence from a chosen period. Compare matching variants and attributes, and do not convert one unusual transaction into a guaranteed quote.

01

Distinguish public sales statistics from your account history

DMarket’s Sales History feature describes previous market sales for an item; your transaction history describes your own account operations. Use the public item record when comparing observed sale prices, not when proving that your own withdrawal completed.

The feature’s 2019 announcement is still publicly readable. It supports the documented purpose and entry route; the exact current controls and available periods should be read on the item you inspect.

Explanation: historical sale and live ask

  1. Sale row

A past transaction within the selected period.

  2. Live ask

    A seller’s current requested amount.

  3. Your comparison

Requires matching item attributes and currency.

02

Use the item information view

The announcement starts from an item card’s information icon, then Sales History. It describes a chart and recent individual deals, with seven-day, one-month, six-month and one-year period choices.

Record the period actually selected and the currency. An image of a chart with the axes cropped cannot explain whether the comparison concerns recent trades or a long historical range.

  1. Open the information for the intended item.
  2. Find Sales History and read the available period choices.
  3. Keep the chart and recent sale rows in context.
  4. Record item variant, currency and the observation date.

03

Build a comparable set before calculating a typical value

Match the game, full finish name, condition and relevant special category. Then check whether float, pattern or applied extras explain an unusual row. If those details are unavailable, say the comparison is broad.

For example, one fictional sale of a rare-pattern weapon cannot establish what an ordinary copy of the same named finish would sell for. Equally, a normal-copy average may be a weak reference for a documented unusual item.

STRIKEPOT / EXPLAINED

Explanation: what makes a sale comparable?

  1. Identity

    Game, finish, exterior and category.

  2. Individual detail

Wear, pattern and extras when available.

  3. Context

Date window, currency and number of observations.

Potential differencesFloat, pattern, sticker craft and timing
Unknown attributesLabel the limitation rather than assume equality

04

Use period changes to reveal context

A short window can be sparse; a long one can include older conditions. Review both when available and state which result you used. Do not choose a window solely because it produces the most attractive number.

In an invented set, one sale in a week and fifteen in a year provide different sample sizes. That does not by itself identify a current buyer or prove how quickly the next item will sell.

05

Write a bounded comparison note

Keep the source item URL, selected window, date, currency, row count if visible and the attributes you could verify. Say when a quote remains uncertain because suitable transactions are missing.

Use the actual sale confirmation for any transaction you choose to make. A history chart is a reference, not a standing offer or guaranteed payout.

BEFORE YOU CONTINUE

Quick checklist

  • Separate item sales statistics from personal history.
  • Keep the period and currency with the chart.
  • Match meaningful item attributes.
  • State sample and coverage limits.

Official sources

Official public documentation reviewed on 26 October 2026 (America/Toronto).

The official Sales History feature article is dated 19 December 2019. Current signed-in controls were not tested; its period choices are labelled as documented choices, not a promise every view is unchanged. No current prices, volumes or sale-speed estimates are reported.
