THE QUICK ANSWER
A bargain is tied to a particular listing. Read the latest counteroffer and its live terms; a seller’s allowed discount sets an offer floor, not a promised sale.
01
Start from an eligible listing
CSFloat’s official bargaining explanation lets a seller enable offers on an individual listing. Both parties can accept, decline or counter. Use the actual listing’s bargaining control and keep the item reference with every price.
The public homepage still describes this feature, while the detailed launch article dates from 2020. Treat that article’s timing rules as historical context and read the current offer’s own expiry before committing.

Understand the seller’s discount floor
The launch design lets sellers set a maximum permitted discount from the listing price, with an override for one listing. That controls the lowest offer the interface accepts; it does not mean the seller agreed to sell at the floor.
For an invented 120-unit listing and an allowed 10% discount, the floor is 108 units: 120 × 0.90. The seller may still decline an allowed 108-unit offer. This explains the calculation without asserting a live CSFloat price.
| Fictional listing | 120 units |
|---|---|
| Fictional permitted discount | 10% |
| Lowest allowed offer in that example | 108 units |
| What it does not establish | Acceptance, delivery or a completed sale |
03
Read each counteroffer as a fresh proposal
A counteroffer changes the terms you are considering. Compare the latest amount with the listing, intended item and your budget before responding. Keep the direction clear: a seller countering 108 with 114 has not accepted 108.
Do not rely on a cropped notification that hides which item it concerns. Two similarly named skins can have different float, pattern or stickers, so retain the original listing link alongside the latest proposal.
Explanation: offer floor versus accepted price
Allowed floor
Invented 120 less 10% = 108 units.
Seller choice
An allowed proposal may still be declined.
Accepted terms
Use the final recorded amount, if accepted.

Use the timer on the actual offer
The 2020 article described automatic expiry after 24 hours and creator cancellation after 30 minutes. Those are dated launch rules, not a timer measured in a current account. Check the current panel for the rule that governs your offer.
If you want to withdraw a proposal, review the current cancellation control and resulting state. A removed or expired bargain is different from a purchase already recorded; follow the purchase’s own terms if one exists.
05
Save the accepted terms and resulting purchase
Keep the final price, currency, listing reference, relevant expiry and decision together. If the interface records a purchase, use that new purchase reference to follow delivery.
An allowed offer, a seller message and an accepted Steam trade are different records. For a discrepancy, give support the latest bargain state and resulting purchase rather than only the original asking price.

Quick checklist
- Match the bargain to the exact listing.
- Calculate an allowed discount as a floor, not acceptance.
- Read the latest counteroffer and live expiry.
- Follow any resulting purchase separately.

Public documentation only; no offer was placed or accepted. The detailed bargaining post is dated 19 May 2020; the public homepage corroborates the feature but the live app shell did not expose account controls. Historical expiry/cancellation rules are explicitly dated, and old Payoneer material in that post is excluded.
