THE QUICK ANSWER
Facepunch documents giving a placed CCTV Camera an identifier while holding a hammer. A Computer Station uses that identifier to select the feed; anyone who knows it can access the camera.
01
Configure the camera you actually placed
The CCTV developer announcement says a deployed camera is configured while holding a hammer. Give it a unique identifier and check its facing direction before looking for it at a Computer Station.
The current Facepunch-hosted CCTV Camera item reference also requires the camera to be powered and paired with a Computer Station. Check the camera’s power state before assuming a correct identifier guarantees a live feed.

Treat the identifier as the address of a feed
Facepunch says anyone with the identifier can access that camera. Pick an identifier you intend to share with its viewers and avoid displaying a private base-camera code in a public screenshot.
Copy the exact identifier into your own notes. A similar name or a remembered monument code does not establish that it refers to your placed camera. This guide does not publish another player’s base identifiers.
03
Add and select the identifier at the station
The documented Computer Station workflow is to sit at the station, add identifiers and click a name to show that feed. Verify the selected entry before assuming the camera’s direction is wrong.
Facepunch also documents Set Direction through the camera interaction menu. That controls where the camera points; editing a station entry controls which camera you view.
- Configure your deployed camera with the hammer and record its identifier.
- Check its intended direction using the camera’s interaction controls.
- Sit at the Computer Station and add the exact identifier.
- Select that entry and compare the feed with the intended camera.
Which control changes which thing?
Camera identifier
Names the feed the station must address.
Camera direction
Changes what that camera sees.
Station selection
Chooses which registered feed you are viewing.
Three separate settings explain different kinds of wrong or missing camera view.

Describe registration and feed problems separately
Record whether the identifier cannot be added, the entry exists but has no feed, or the feed points somewhere unexpected. Include the current server and camera state without posting a private code publicly.
The launch article does not establish current monument code lists or every server’s camera settings. Use that server’s present interface rather than a copied list as proof that a camera exists.
BEFORE YOU CONTINUE
Quick checklist
- Use a deployed camera, not only a component in storage.
- Configure it with the hammer and check camera power.
- Keep its exact identifier private where appropriate.
- Separate station selection from camera direction.

No camera, power circuit, identifier, station, current monument code or feed was tested. Historical range and maximum-character values are omitted rather than asserted for every current server.
